Raise your glass to Detroit Beer Week

Melody Baetens / The Detroit News

In September, a group of upscale eateries in downtown Detroit offered up Restaurant Week. Not to be outdone, the local beer and brewery industry has kicked off Detroit Beer Week. The fun started on Oct. 16 and runs through Saturday. The grand finale event is the Harvest Beer Festival at Eastern Market.
Participating restaurants and bars include Slows Bar BQ, Foran's Grand Trunk Pub, Park Bar, Motor City Brewing Works, Traffic Jam & Snug, Atwater Block Brewery, Detroit Beer Company, Wolfgang Puck Grille, Michael Symon's Roast, 24Grille and Fender's Pub.
"Detroit Beer Week is a celebration of the emerging craft beer culture in Detroit," says Bil Lusa, one of the event's organizers. "It goes beyond the bars and bottle shops and into how the enjoyment of a great beer can be a part of daily life in the city, and how daily life in the city lends itself to the enjoyment of better beer."
